Regional workshop on developing the Strategy for risk-based FMD control in Cambodia, Lao PDR and Mya

During a 4-days workshop in Bangkok facilitated by AHW, the FMD National Committees were supported to go through the steps of risk identification, gap analysis to define component objectives for FMD control. Next, tactics and activities were defined to achieve the stated component objectives, and indicators, targets and means of verifications were identified. Training of trainers to Village Veterinary Workers in Lao PDR

Following up on the training of trainers from Myanmar and Lao PDR, this training continued the development of a three-days course for Village Veterinar Workers on FMD prevention and control. The Laotian Training Team was supported on the principles of adult learning, skills to present and train, and methods of monitoring the performance of VVWs after the training. Community Animal Health Workers training - Lao-PDR and Myanmar

CAHWs (Myanmar) and Village Veterinary Workers (VVWs in Lao PDR) are the first persons to suspect an infectious disease such as PPR, FMD, HPAI, Classical Swine Fever (CSF). They act as eyes and ears for disease surveillance and local response.
