TRAINING OF TRAINING ON BEST PRACTICES FOR SAMPLING AND PACKAGING OF ZOONOTIC AGENTS

Contractor: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, under the Biosecurity Engagement Program (US-DOS) in collaboration with VetEffect

Areas:  Jordan

Direct beneficiaries: Central and regional staff of Veterinary Directorate, Jordan

Duration of activity:  2020

1st Tier: Training of staff of the Animal Wealth Laboratories on subject of sampling, packaging and submission of field samples of suspect cases of zoonotic diseases.

2nd Tier: Subsequent training of veterinary staff in the governorates to improve clinical recognition, sampling and sample submission of suspect cases of Anthrax, Brucellosis, Q-fever, Rabies and HPAI. First tier trainees will act as trainers, with supervision by international expert.

In addition to subject matter, training in 1st tier emphasized principles and approaches of Adult Learning to safeguard that 2nd tier training is enhancing skills and performances in the field. 

TRAINING ON SERO-SURVEY DESIGN FOR BRUCELLOSIS AND PPR

Contractor: FAO-LIFT (“Improving Farmer Livelihoods in the Dry Zone through Improved Livestock Health, Productivity and Marketing”)

Duration of activity:  Oct-Nov 2017

 

Training LBVD staff on sero-survey design for

  • proving absence of PPR virus circulation in Myanmar

  • quantifying Brucella melitensis level of infection in the project area

Training of LBVD staff on Preparedness and Contingency for PPR incursions into Myanmar

VALUE-ADDED INTERNATIONAL ORIENTED PRODUCTION CHAIN FOR PORC, VIP - VIETNAM

Contractor: GD-Animal Health Services

Areas:  Vietnam

Direct beneficiaries:  Department of Animal Health, Department of Livestock Production and National Agriculture Extension Center

 

Duration of activity:  2015-2017

 

This project aims to upgrade the Vietnamese pork chain in quantity, quality and safety standards with the support of Netherlands know-how and technology.

 

Within the G2G component, the GD-Animal Health Service takes care for "disease monitoring and eradication program", WP2. 

 

WP2 involves workshops and training on prioritising animal diseases for control, design of disease monitoring and developing a control / eradication program for some of the prioritized pig diseases.

  • Design, analysis and reporting of baseline survey on bovine and small ruminant brucellosis and bovine tuberculosis in Anatolia

IMPROVEMENT OF PREVENTION, CONTROL AND ERADICATION OF HIGHLY-PATHOGENIC AVIAN INFLUENZA IN THE UNION OF MYANMAR

 

Contractor: FAO - Emergency operations and rehabilitation division (TCE)

Areas: Myanmar

Direct beneficiaries: Livestock breeding and Veterinary Department

 

Duration of activity:  2010-2012

 

Duck cross-sectional study: design, data validation, analysis and reporting

Training of epidemiology group and input to curriculum development for education in veterinary epidemiology at the Veterinary Facultry. 
 

Additional consultancies continued work with epidemiology group and involved study design and data analysis of studiens on HPAI, H1N1, PRRS and CSF.
